Phil Payne

Founder and President

Phil started Living and Learning over twelve years ago while living in Quito, Ecuador. He oversees the academic semester program, summer internship program, and short term academic trips known as Study Tours. Phil is based out of central Washington state but frequently travels to Ecuador.

Greg Belgum

VP of Strategic Partnerships (US Team)

Greg is on the US team. He oversees our partnerships with universities and other organizations. Greg is based on the Central Coast of California.

Ashleigh Dellos

Director of Enrollment (US Team)

Ashleigh is on the US team. She manages the enrollment process for students interested in any L&LI program. She'll help you from inital interest to getting on the plane! Ashleigh is based out of Chicago, Illinois.

Rachel Roskoski

Director of Study Tours (US Team)

Rachel is responsible for the design and oversight of all custom programs and faculty-led study tours.  She works closely with the team in Ecuador but also designs programs for L&LI globally. Rachel is based out of Washington, D.C.

Bryan Cole

In-Country Director, Professor (Ecuador)

Bryan manages day-to-day operations of both the in-country team and students studying with L&LI in Ecuador. He oversees all other directors, semester budgets, and is the first point of contact for crises in-country.

Janelle Groeneweg

Director of Education, Professor (Ecuador)

Janelle assures academic rigor, achievement of learning outcomes, and success for students and faculty in-country. She approves all course syllabi, faculty hiring, and comes alongside all of our students academically.

Loren Groeneweg

Director of Spiritual Life, Professor (Ecuador)

Loren provides spiritual development and guidance for both students and staff, specifically through coordinating and teaching in weekly chapels. Loren also teaches Christian Spiritual Formation & Transformation and the Worldview & Global Religions courses.

Mika Insuasti

Director of Community Impact (Ecuador)

Mika coordinates and connects students to internship sites across the city, catering to multiple majors and student needs for the service-learning side of their academic experience abroad. Mika updates and runs L&LI’s social media accounts.

Kelley Jordan-Taube

Director of Student Life & Licensed Counselor (Ecuador)

Kelley directs student life, assuring that holistic care is given to students while abroad. She has a background in clinical services and acts as the licensed counselor on staff for student support and crisis response.

Meg van Rijn

Resident Coordinator (Ecuador)

RCs provide holistic care for students, specifically by living alongside students in apartments and setting up regular meetings with each of student. RCs are tasked with creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment by enforcing behavioral standards and managing living in community.

Regan Beck

Resident Coordinator (Ecuador)

Jose Luis

Study Tour Coordinator (Ecuador)

Jose Luis coordinates all of the in-country logisitics for Study Tours to Ecuador. He manages relationships with businesses, hospitals, schools, and ministry sites that host L&LI Study Tours. Jose regularly hosts short term teams during their program in Ecuador.

Larry Peck

Program Director, Professor (Italy)

Larry Peck was born in Naples, Italy, to an Italian mom and an American dad. In addition to being the Director of Rome with Purpose, Larry teaches the Cultural Understanding course.

Debbie Peck

Program Manager (Italy)

Debbie Peck grew up in Burkina Faso, West Africa, where her parents were missionaries.Debbie has always enjoyed cooking and loves to teach students how to make pasta and bread–and mentoring them in their walk of faith.

Riccardo Regis

Resident Coordinator (Italy)

Riccardo grew up in Ostia, just outside of Rome. He is fluent in both English and Italian–and understands both American and Italian cultures well. He plans weekend activities for students, helps with Italian language-learning, and introduces students to Italian culture.
